2016-17 Upper Deck SPx — change is in the air with 2016-17 Upper Deck SPx Hockey.

About This Set

Change is in the air with 2016-17 Upper Deck SPx Hockey. The brand is getting a major overhaul, perhaps its biggest since changing over from being an all-hologram product in its early days nearly two decades ago. Similar to Black Diamond last year, SPx moves from a premium brand to something even more high-end. Boxes now come with just four cards spread over four packs. Everything is either an autograph, memorabilia card or a “technology card,” a term Upper Deck uses for the premium-style base cards and other inserts. 2016-17 Upper Deck SPx Hockey base cards come in a few different forms, all of which are serial numbered. Veterans and retired players fall under the Star and Legends banners and are limited to 149 copies each. Parallels are done as autographs and memorabilia cards. Base relics include Red Material (Stars – 1:16, Legends – 1:160) and Orange Premium Material (Stars – /10, Legends – /5). Stars Blue Autographs come in three levels: Tier 1 (/149), Tier 2 (/49) and Tier 3 (/15). It’s the same approach for Gold Premium Material Autographs with Tier 1 numbered to 49, Tier 2 out of 25 and Tier 3 limited to 10 copies each. Black Premium Material Autographs come numbered to 5.
